ഇടുക്കി ഡാം അടച്ചു: വെള്ളത്തിനും വൈദ്യുതിക്കും ബദൽ സംവിധാനങ്ങൾ
തിരുവനന്തപുരം∙ ഇടുക്കി ഡാമിലെ രണ്ട് യൂണിറ്റുകളിലെ ചോർച്ച പരിഹരിക്കുന്നതിനായി ഡാം അടച്ചതിനെ തുടർന്ന് സംസ്ഥാനത്തെ ജലവും വൈദ്യുതിയും കുറയുമെന്ന സാഹചര്യത്തിൽ ബദൽ സംവിധാനങ്ങൾ ആരംഭിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടെന്ന് കെ.എസ്.ഇ.ബി. അറിയിച്ചു.
ഡിസംബർ 10നുശേഷം മാത്രമേ ഡാം വീണ്ടും തുറക്കൂ. ഡാം അടച്ചതോടെ പ്രതിദിനം ആയിരം മെഗാവാട്ടിലേറെ വൈദ്യുതി ഉൽപ്പാദനത്തിൽ കുറവുണ്ടാകുമെന്നും കെ.എസ്.ഇ.ബി. വ്യക്തമാക്കി.
ഇതോടൊപ്പം എറണാകുളത്തും പരിസര പ്രദേശങ്ങളിലുമുള്ള ജലവിതരണത്തിലും തടസ്സം അനുഭവപ്പെടും.
കമ്മി നികത്തുന്നതിനായി വിവിധ സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളുമായി സ്വാപ് കരാറിലൂടെ 1,096 മെഗാവാട്ട് വൈദ്യുതി വാങ്ങാനുള്ള നടപടി ആരംഭിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.
ഇതനുസരിച്ച് അന്തർസംസ്ഥാന വൈദ്യുതി കോറിഡോർ ഇതിനകം തുറന്നിട്ടുണ്ട്.
ജലവിതരണത്തിന് മലങ്കര അണക്കെട്ടിൽ നിന്ന് നിയന്ത്രിത അളവിൽ വെള്ളം തുറന്നുവിട്ട് തുടർച്ചയായി ഒൻപത് ദിവസം വെള്ളമെത്തിക്കുമെന്നും കെ.എസ്.ഇ.ബി. അറിയിച്ചു.
തൊടുപുഴ ടൗൺ, മൂപ്പിൽകടവ്, തെക്കുമല, ആരക്കുഴമൂഴി തുടങ്ങിയ പമ്പിങ് സ്റ്റേഷനുകളിൽ ആവശ്യമായാൽ മണൽ ചാക്കുകൾ ഉപയോഗിച്ച് താത്കാലിക തടയണകൾ നിർമ്മിച്ച് വെള്ളം പമ്പ് ചെയ്ത് കുടിവെള്ള വിതരണം തുടരാനാണ് തീരുമാനം.
കൂടാതെ, ഭൂതത്താൻകെട്ടിൽ നിന്നും കനാലുകൾ വഴിയുള്ള ജലമൊഴുക്കും. പെരിയാർവാലി ഇറിഗേഷൻ പദ്ധതിയിലെ ചേലാട്, മുളവൂർ ബ്രാഞ്ച് കനാലുകൾ തുറന്നുവിട്ടിട്ടുണ്ട്.
വാളകം, മഴുവന്നൂർ കനാലുകളിലെ അറ്റകുറ്റപ്പണികൾ പൂർത്തിയാകുന്ന മുറയ്ക്ക് അവ വഴിയും വെള്ളം എത്തിക്കാനാണ് തീരുമാനം.
ഉയർന്ന പ്രദേശങ്ങളിലേക്ക് ടാങ്കർ ലോറികളിലൂടെയും കുടിവെള്ളം വിതരണം ചെയ്യുമെന്ന് അധികൃതർ അറിയിച്ചു.

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) has announced alternative measures to tackle the shortage of water and electricity following the temporary shutdown of the Idukki Dam to fix leaks in two units. The dam is expected to reopen only after December 10. The closure will result in a daily shortfall of over 1,000 MW of power and disrupt water supply in Ernakulam and nearby areas.
To compensate, KSEB will procure 1,096 MW of electricity from other states through swap agreements, and inter-state power corridors have already been opened. Controlled water release from the Malankara Dam will ensure supply for the next nine days. Temporary bunds using sandbags will be set up at pumping stations in Thodupuzha, Muppilkadavu, Thekkumala, and Arakkuzhamoozhi to maintain drinking water distribution. Water will also be diverted through canals from Bhoothathankettu, Chellat, and Mulavoor branches under the Periyar Valley Irrigation Project. Once repairs on Valakam and Mazhuvannoor canals are complete, those routes will also be used. Tanker lorries will supply water to high-altitude areas.
