അറക്കുളം∙ അറ്റകുറ്റപ്പണികൾക്കായി മൂലമറ്റം പവർഹൗസിന്റെ പ്രവർത്തനം താൽക്കാലികമായി നിർത്തിയതോടെ മീൻപിടുത്തക്കാർക്ക് വലിയ ചാകര ലഭിച്ചു.

ചൊവ്വാഴ്ച രാത്രി മുതലാണ് പ്രദേശവാസികൾ വലയും കുടയും എടുത്ത് മീൻപിടിത്തത്തിന് എത്തിയത്. പുലർച്ചെയോടെ നൂറിലധികം കിലോ മീനുകൾ നാട്ടുകാർ പിടികൂടി.

അറക്കുളം സ്വദേശികളായ സാജു കുന്നേമുറി, ജോസഫ് ഓലിക്കൽ, ജോസ് കുളത്തിനാൽ എന്നിവരുടെ നേതൃത്വത്തിലുള്ള സംഘം ഏകദേശം 100 കിലോ മീൻ പിടിച്ചു.

ഇടയാടി കുന്നുംപുറത്ത് നിഷാന്തിന്റെയും മകൻ അഭിദേവിന്റെയും സംഘവും 60 കിലോ മീൻ പിടിച്ചതായി വിവരം.

മീൻപിടിത്തവും വിൽപ്പനയും കാണാൻ അറക്കുളം, മൂലമറ്റം, കാഞ്ഞാർ തുടങ്ങിയ പ്രദേശങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നുള്ളവരും എത്തിയിരുന്നു.

മലങ്കര ജലാശയത്തിൽ പരമാവധി ജലം സംഭരിച്ചതിനാൽ ജലനിരപ്പ് താഴ്ന്ന മൂലമറ്റം ഭാഗത്തും ത്രിവേണി സംഗമത്തിലും വലവീശിയാണ് മീൻപിടുത്തം നടന്നത്.

ജലനിരപ്പ് കുറഞ്ഞതോടെ തൊടുപുഴയാറിലേക്കും മീൻപിടിത്തക്കാർ നീങ്ങിയിരുന്നു. പ്രദേശത്ത് അപൂർവമായ ഈ ചാകര നാട്ടുകാർക്ക് നല്ലൊരു വരുമാനമാർഗമായി മാറി.
