അതിരപ്പിള്ളിയിലെ ‘മഞ്ഞക്കൊമ്പന്’ ഗുരുതര പരിക്ക്; ചികിത്സയ്ക്ക് തയ്യാറായി വനം വകുപ്പ്
അതിരപ്പിള്ളി: അതിരപ്പിള്ളി മേഖലയിലെ ‘മഞ്ഞക്കൊമ്പന്’ എന്നറിയപ്പെടുന്ന കാട്ടാനയ്ക്ക് തുമ്പിക്കൈയില് ഗുരുതര പരിക്കേറ്റതായി വിവരം. കഴിഞ്ഞ മൂന്ന് ദിവസമായി പരിക്കുകളോടെ പ്രദേശത്ത് അലഞ്ഞുതിരിയുന്നുവെന്ന് നാട്ടുകാര് അറിയിച്ചു.
ആന ഇപ്പോള് പാലപ്പിള്ളി എസ്റ്റേറ്റിലെ ചൊക്കന പ്രദേശത്താണ് ഉള്ളത്. കാട്ടാനകള് തമ്മിലുള്ള ഏറ്റുമുട്ടലിലാണ് പരിക്കേറ്റതെന്നാണ് വനം വകുപ്പിന്റെ പ്രാഥമിക നിഗമനം. തുമ്പിക്കൈയിലെ മുറിവ് ആഴത്തിലുള്ളതാണെന്ന് ദൃശ്യങ്ങളില് നിന്ന് വ്യക്തമാണ്.
മുപ്ലിയം ഫോറസ്റ്റ് സ്റ്റേഷന് പരിധിയില് ആര്.ആര്.ടി സംഘം ആനയെ നിരീക്ഷിച്ചു വരികയാണ്. ആന വനത്തിനുള്ളില് മറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നതിനാല് കൃത്യമായ സ്ഥാനം കണ്ടെത്താനുള്ള ശ്രമങ്ങള് തുടരുന്നു.
മയക്കുവെടി വെച്ച് ചികിത്സ നല്കാനാണ് വനം വകുപ്പിന്റെ തീരുമാനം. ഇതിനായി വെറ്ററിനറി ഡോക്ടര്മാരുടെ പ്രത്യേക സംഘത്തെ സ്ഥലത്തേക്ക് അയക്കുമെന്ന് അധികൃതര് അറിയിച്ചു.
മദപ്പാടില് അപകടകാരിയായ മഞ്ഞക്കൊമ്പന് ഇതിനകം മൂന്നു പേരുടെ മരണത്തിനിടയാക്കിയിട്ടുണ്ടെന്നതിനാല് പ്രദേശത്ത് ജാഗ്രത നിര്ദേശം നല്കിയിട്ടുണ്ട്.
