ഫിറ്റ്നസ് സർട്ടിഫിക്കറ്റ് പുതുക്കാത്ത വാഹനങ്ങളിൽ നിന്ന് പിഴ ഈടാക്കുന്നതിൽ വീഴ്ച സംഭവിച്ചതിനാൽ സംസ്ഥാന സർക്കാരിന് ഏകദേശം 8.82 കോടി രൂപയുടെ വരുമാന നഷ്ടമുണ്ടായതായി Comptroller and Auditor General of India (സി.എ.ജി) റിപ്പോർട്ട്.
തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്ത അഞ്ച് ജില്ലകളിൽ ‘ഇ-ചെലാൻ’ സോഫ്റ്റ്വെയർ വഴി പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ച 6,39,846 ചെലാൻ റിപ്പോർട്ടുകൾ പരിശോധിച്ചപ്പോഴാണ് ഈ ക്രമക്കേട് കണ്ടെത്തിയത്. പിഴയും അധിക ഫീസും കൃത്യമായി ഈടാക്കുന്നതിൽ Kerala Motor Vehicles Department പരാജയപ്പെട്ടുവെന്നാണ് ഓഡിറ്റ് വിമർശനം.
ഈ വീഴ്ചയാണ് ഏകദേശം 8.82 കോടി രൂപയുടെ വരുമാന നഷ്ടത്തിന് കാരണമായത്. നിയമപ്രകാരം ഈടാക്കുന്ന കോമ്പൗണ്ടിംഗ് ഫീസിന്റെ 50 ശതമാനം റോഡ് സുരക്ഷാ ഫണ്ടിലേക്ക് കൈമാറേണ്ടതുണ്ടെങ്കിലും, പിഴ ഈടാക്കുന്നതിലെ പിഴവുകൾ മൂലം ആ ഫണ്ടിലേക്കുള്ള വരവിലും ഗണ്യമായ കുറവുണ്ടായതായി സി.എ.ജി ചൂണ്ടിക്കാട്ടി.
