2014 ജൂൺ 1 മുതൽ 2025 നവംബർ 1 വരെ രജിസ്റ്റർ ചെയ്ത കേസുകളുടെയും അതിൽ ശിക്ഷ ലഭിച്ചവരുടെയും കണക്ക് ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ട് തൃണമൂൽ കോൺഗ്രസ് എംപി ശത്രുഘ്നൻ സിന്ഹ ലോക്സഭയിൽ ചോദ്യം ഉന്നയിച്ചിരുന്നു.
2019–20 സാമ്പത്തിക വർഷത്തിന് മുമ്പ് ഇഡി വർഷത്തിലൊരിക്കലും 200-ൽ അധികം കേസുകൾ രജിസ്റ്റർ ചെയ്തിരുന്നില്ല. എന്നാൽ 2019–20-ൽ 557 കേസുകളും 2020–21-ൽ 996 കേസുകളും എടുത്തു.
ഏറ്റവും ഉയർന്ന കേസുകളുടെ എണ്ണം 2021–22-ൽ — ആകെ 1,116. പിന്നീട് വർഷങ്ങളിൽ ശരാശരി 700ഓളം കേസുകളാണ് ഇഡി കള്ളപ്പണക്കാർക്കെതിരെ രജിസ്റ്റർ ചെയ്തത്.
അതേസമയം, 2019-ൽ രജിസ്റ്റർ ചെയ്ത 93 കേസുകൾ “മതിയായ തെളിവുകളില്ല” എന്ന അടിസ്ഥാനത്തിൽ അവസാനിപ്പിച്ചുവെന്ന് കേന്ദ്ര ധനകാര്യ സഹമന്ത്രി പങ്കജ് ചൗധരി ലോക്സഭയെ അറിയിച്ചു.
കഴിഞ്ഞ 10 വർഷത്തിനിടെ പ്രതിപക്ഷ നേതാക്കൾക്കെതിരെ ഇഡി 193 കേസുകൾ എടുത്തിട്ടുണ്ടെങ്കിലും ശിക്ഷ ലഭിച്ചത് വെറും രണ്ട് കേസുകളിലാണ്.
പ്രിവൻഷൻ ഓഫ് മണി ലോണ്ടറിംഗ് ആക്ട് (PMLA) പ്രകാരം കേസുകളുടെ എണ്ണം വർഷം തോറും വർധിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോഴും ശിക്ഷാനിരക്ക് രണ്ട് ശതമാനത്തിലും താഴെയാണ്.

Responding to a question raised in the Lok Sabha by TMC MP Shatrughan Sinha, the government revealed that case registrations surged after 2019. The ED filed 557 cases in 2019–20, 996 in 2020–21, and a record 1,116 in 2021–22. In recent years, the average has been around 700 cases annually.
However, the conviction rate remains extremely low. In 2019 alone, 93 cases were closed due to insufficient evidence. Over the past decade, ED filed 193 cases against opposition leaders, but only two led to convictions. Under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), the conviction rate remains below 2%.
