പുകയില ഉൽപ്പന്നങ്ങൾക്ക് അധിക എക്സൈസ് ഡ്യൂട്ടി ഏർപ്പെടുത്താനും പാൻമസാലയ്ക്ക് പുതിയ സെസ്സ് നടപ്പാക്കാനും കേന്ദ്ര സർക്കാർ തീരുമാനിച്ചു. ഫെബ്രുവരി 1 മുതൽ പുതിയ നികുതി നിരക്കുകൾ പ്രാബല്യത്തിൽ വരും.
പാൻമസാല, സിഗരറ്റ്, മറ്റ് പുകയില ഉൽപ്പന്നങ്ങൾ എന്നിവയ്ക്ക് ഇനി 40 ശതമാനം ജിഎസ്ടി ഈടാക്കും. ബീഡിക്ക് 18 ശതമാനം ജിഎസ്ടിയാണ് നിശ്ചയിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്.
പാൻമസാലയ്ക്ക് ‘ഹെൽത്ത് ആൻഡ് നാഷണൽ സെക്യൂരിറ്റി സെസ്സ്’ എന്ന പേരിൽ പുതിയ സെസും ഏർപ്പെടുത്തും. കൂടാതെ പുകയില ഉൽപ്പന്നങ്ങൾക്ക് പ്രത്യേക എക്സൈസ് ഡ്യൂട്ടിയും നൽകേണ്ടിവരും.
നിലവിൽ ഈ ഉൽപ്പന്നങ്ങൾക്ക് ഈടാക്കിയിരുന്ന ജിഎസ്ടി കോമ്പൻസേഷൻ സെസ്സ് ഫെബ്രുവരി ഒന്നോടെ അവസാനിക്കും. അതിന് പകരമായി പുതിയ നികുതി ഘടന നടപ്പാക്കും.
പാൻമസാല, ഗുഡ്ക തുടങ്ങിയവ നിർമ്മിക്കുന്ന മെഷീനുകളുടെ ഉൽപ്പാദന ശേഷി അടിസ്ഥാനമാക്കി നികുതി ഈടാക്കാനുള്ള പുതിയ നിയമങ്ങളും സർക്കാർ പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.
പുകയില ഉൽപ്പന്നങ്ങളുടെ ഉപയോഗം കുറയ്ക്കുക എന്ന ലക്ഷ്യത്തോടെയാണ് ‘സിൻ ടാക്സ്’ വർധിപ്പിക്കുന്നതെന്ന് സർക്കാർ വിശദീകരിച്ചു. ഇതോടെ ഫെബ്രുവരി പകുതിയോടെ വിപണിയിൽ ഈ ഉൽപ്പന്നങ്ങൾക്ക് വൻ വിലക്കയറ്റമുണ്ടാകാൻ സാധ്യതയുണ്ട്.
